Former Sparks hoops star Williams is AP 2nd team All-America

RENO, Nev. (AP) - UConn junior Gabby Williams, a former basketball star at Reed High School in Sparks, has been named to the second squad of The Associated Press All-America team.

Two of her UConn teammates, Napheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson, were named Monday to AP's first team.

Williams is averaging 13.2 points and 8.4 rebounds per game for the top-ranked and undefeated Huskies (35-0). They're scheduled to play Oregon (23-13) Monday night in the NCAA women's regional finals in Bridgeport, Connecticut.

Williams also is averaging 5.3 assists and 2.7 steals per game while hitting 57.3 percent of her shots from the field. She led the Reed Raiders to the Class 4A state title in 2014.

University of Nevada officials announced last week that UConn has agreed to play the Wolf Pack women in Reno next season on Nov. 28.
