Pair charged in Glen Ellyn armed robbery
Two Glen Ellyn residents are facing criminal charges in connection with an armed robbery early Monday morning at a doughnut shop where they used to work.
Lauren M. Petty, 31, and Otis L. Ramsey, 46, both of the 600 block of Roosevelt Road, have been charged with armed robbery, according to a news release from the Glen Ellyn Police Department.
Authorities allege the pair entered the Dunkin' Donuts at 651 Roosevelt Road in Glen Ellyn at about 1 a.m. Monday and ordered an employee to give them money.
Police said Petty threatened the employee with a pair of long scissors that the employee thought was a knife.
The employee escaped through the drive-up window and ran to a nearby business to call 911.
After the employee escaped, Ramsey removed an undetermined amount of money from the cash register, police said, and Ramsey and Petty fled.
Police said they took both of them into custody in the parking lot of a nearby hotel. Both were taken to DuPage County jail and are charged with armed robbery.
Ramsey is being held on $250,000 bail, and Petty will be in bond court this morning.
