Quad City International Airport plans $7.7M in 2017 projects

MOLINE, Ill. (AP) - Several million dollars in upgrades and improvements are planned this year at Quad City International Airport in western Illinois.

The (Moline) Dispatch reports the airport is working on 17 projects during 2017 with a combined price tag of more than $7.75 million. Officials expect nearly a third of those projects will be finished by the end of this month.

This year's work includes a nearly $2 million security project to install cameras throughout the airport. There's also a nearly $1.5 million efforts to update runway signs for pilots. Improvements also are underway for the airport's taxiways, including improving lines of sight for the control tower.

Airport officials say an environmental assessment is planned to eliminate open water and wetlands that attract wildlife.
