Cops hunting arsonists who damaged Naperville park bathroom

Arsonists have damaged the bathroom of a south Naperville park twice in recent days, and now a reward is being offered for information that leads to their arrest, authorities said Friday.

The most recent case occurred between 8:30 and 10 a.m. Tuesday in the restroom at Commissioners Park East, 3704 W. 111th St., police said.

Shortly before the fire began, police said a surveillance video shows two suspects approaching the restroom, then walking away a short time later.

Police said one suspect was wearing an orange hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. The second was wearing a dark top that might have been gray with blue jeans and white gym shoes.

Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said investigators have been unable to determine the race of the suspects from the video.

The earlier bathroom fire took place March 16. Cammiso said there is no surveillance video showing suspects from that fire, so investigators do not know if the two were started by the same people.

Anyone with information about the bathroom fires is asked to call Naperville Crime Stoppers at (630) 420-6006. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest.
