Softball: Garrett, Grayslake North get first wins

Grayslake North 5, Hoffman Estates 3: Pitcher Evan Garrett earned her first varsity win in Grayslake North's season opener.

Senior Jenna Pozezinski was 3-for-4 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI while Alyssa Carr was 3-for-3.

Freshman Faith Standerski got her first varsity hit, a double.

Lakes 11, Stevenson 5: Seven different Stevenson hitters had hits, but it wasn't enough as the Patriots dropped their season opener.

Mic Faunce and Emma Oriatti each had 2 hits for Stevenson and Faunce drove in 2 runs.

Lake Zurich 7, Deerfield 0: Jessica Purcinelli went 3-for-4 to lead Lake Zurich to the shutout win.

Amanda Guercio added 2 hits and drove in 3 runs while Sarah Schnecker also had 2 hits.

Winning pitcher Juliana Hood went the distance.

Palatine 3, Grayslake Central 2: Pitcher Reagen Radke took the loss for Grayslake Central in its season opener.
