Cook Memorial library board discussing Aspen Drive expansion

The Cook Memorial Public Library District board will hold a special meeting Thursday to discuss possible designs for an expansion to the Aspen Drive Library, 701 Aspen Drive, Vernon Hills.

Some preliminary design options will be unveiled at the meeting, scheduled for 6:30 p.m. at the library.

Library officials have developed several expansion options for the 20,000-square-foot library, which opened in 2010. Some include the construction of an unfinished lower level, while others call for a finished lower level. Cost estimates range from about $4 million to about $8.5 million.

The board won't take action on the plans until later this spring or the summer, officials said.
