Libertyville students try to catch leprechauns for St. Patrick's Day

Adler Park School first-graders celebrated St. Patrick's Day by trying to catch leprechauns Friday in the Libertyville school.

Making leprechaun traps has been a first-grade tradition for years at Adler Park School.

Parents showed up to Theresa Gasick's and Kelly Tyrakowski's classes to view the traps and participate in St. Patrick's Day activities.

Students made the traps at home with their parents and brought them to school to see if they could catch the sneaky little guys.

"We're still searching for him, and every year and the traps get better and better," Tyrakowski said.

Students also conducted a reader's theater in which the students held up a picture and talked about Ireland and Irish folklore in front of their parents.
