Naperville police shoot at two dogs that chased kids

Naperville police shot at two dogs reportedly chasing children as they got off the school bus Wednesday, according to a news release from the city's police department.

Police were called about 2:45 p.m. to the 5000 block of Christa Drive on Naperville's southwest side for multiple reports of two Rottweilers running loose. One officer saw the dogs running toward a group of firefighters and paramedics, who were in the area for unrelated reasons, according to the news release. The officer yelled to the firefighters to get into their vehicle. The dogs then began running toward the Naperville officer who fired his gun, grazing one of the dogs' legs, police said.

The dogs ran off, but were later found at their home on the 4100 block of Callery Road. The owner was cited for allowing her dogs to run free, authorities said. Wells took the injured dog to a local animal hospital for treatment.

No people were reported injured.
