Vice Commander of American Legion Post 748.Board member of my lake association.Elected offices held: Currently in my second term of Village Trustee.Questions Answers What makes you the best candidate for the job?My experience on the village board as a trustee has provided a solid foundation for me to run for mayor. My 38 years service experience also makes me qualified for this position. As the mayor my customers are the local businesses and families. I am currently responsible for a 200M dollar account and the budget tied to this account.From resources to logistics to day to day activities I stay fully engaged. I forecast annual revenue and monitor activity monthly to make sure our forecasts are accurate and attainable. I work from home so my availability is 24x7. During my last 6 years as a trustee and my technical background there has been a substantial savings to the village on technical equipment.How would you describe the condition of your community's budget, and what are the most important specific actions the town should take to assure providing the level of services that people want?I believe the current budget is in fair condition. The expenditures that are made outside of the budget process should stop unless absolutely necessary.Where, if anywhere, could the current budget be trimmed, and conversely, are there areas the budget does not give enough money to?I believe we can stop hiring so many consultants to examine what we need. We have had multiple companies come in and do a presentation on their services but, we have never had a plan completed. If we had a actual plan the village does not have the funding or resources to implement it.Describe your leadership style and explain how you think that will be effective in producing effective actions and decisions with your village board or city council.I lead by example and in the toughest situations I evaluate all the information provided and input from staff before I make a decision. The decisions that are made has to be fair for everyone. You need to be a good listener and flexible. The decisions that are made affect people's lives.What is one good idea you have to better the community that no one is talking about yet?I would like to use technology to move the village forward. Updated technology would improve our productivity and efficiencies. This would take some of the pressure off staff.What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?The village needs to be business friendly and easy to work with. Currently you really can't get things done in a expeditious manner. There is always something else needed.Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Candidate did not respond.What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Because you can take advantage of someone, doesn't mean you should.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?I would be more involved in community service. There are so many great organizations that just needs a little help.What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Math was one of my favorite subjects. Problem solving gave me a solid foundation to analyze different scenarios successfully.If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?To treat everyone equal and fair.
