Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?My family and I are avid users of the Glen Ellyn Park District. As a father to two active kids and a coach, I see our park district programs, especially the sports programs, as a terrific opportunity for kids to learn not only the fundamentals of a sport but also to learn about sportsmanship and teamwork and, in general, have fun. As a park district board member, I would focus my efforts on enhancing our park district programs by looking for opportunities to improve and grow those programs. How do you assess the state of the district's finances? What, if any, changes do you propose to alter the district's financial picture, whether through cost reduction or revenue increases? Please be as specific as possible on where you would propose cutting or how you would propose increasing revenue.I have not been able to look at the current finances, I could not really comment on tho topic until I had the opportunity to review the details of the district's financial picture. What programs aren't paying for themselves? Would you keep, eliminate or change them? How and why?I am currently unaware of any programs that have this issue because I simply do not have those numbers. However, if there is such an issue I would like to take time to research and evaluate any potential problems. My intention is not too eliminate any programs but to strengthen them. Are there any unmet recreational needs? If yes, what are they and how would you propose paying for them?At this time, I am not aware of these needs. If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for the park board? If you're an incumbent, list your accomplishments or key initiatives in which you played a leadership role. This past fall, my wife and I participated ini the meetings and discussion regarding the proposal for lights at Newton Park. I learned a lot about the process but also the need to further improve our existing Park District programs and the use of the Park District's existing resources. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?I live directly across the street from one of our great parks. As a park neighbor, I see how the park is used every day by members of our community for walking, running, playing pickup basketball games, sledding, or just impromptu fun among many other activities. It's important to me that we maintain the community park nature of our park district facilities to foster this sense of community ownership. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.My parents, I know they may not qualify as a leader. But they have inspired me.What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Treat others as you would want to be treatedIf life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Maybe stick with baseball, I was good but stopped playing when I was youngWhat was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Math, I loved it and enjoy watching my children learn itIf you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?Treat others as you would want to be treated
