Is there a particular issue that motivates you, and if so, what is it?Having four young children emerging into the community and growing up in Rolling Meadows myself I am inspired by them to encourage the growth, involvement and dreams amongst its youth. Helping them develop strong ties and giving them enjoyable and approachable ways to do so is important to me and what I'll strive to do. Allowing them to take pride in their community and then want to remain here when it comes time to raise their own families. I joined the Rolling Meadows Youth Baseball Board in June 2015 to begin that endeavor and look foward to continuing that same notion on a larger scale as a Park District Commissioner if given the opportunity by my fellow residents. How do you assess the state of the district's finances? What, if any, changes do you propose to alter the district's financial picture, whether through cost reduction or revenue increases? Please be as specific as possible on where you would propose cutting or how you would propose increasing revenue.I have started attending meetings and reviewing the financials available to the public to gain some understanding and knowledge on this subject before hopefully taking a position on the board after the April election. One of my main purposes on the Baseball Board pertains to fundraising so I hope to bring new ideas to the Park District Board in the same way that will increase revenue and possibly find any gaps or missed opportunities that would increase revenue as well. What programs aren't paying for themselves? Would you keep, eliminate or change them? How and why?I feel very strongly that it is important to be fully immersed in the role and processes, have all the information with both revenue streams and expenses before making statements that might make those who use certain programs concerned. First and foremost I would want to make sure everyone feels included within our community and that they have the programs and facilities that meet their needs and desires. My goal is to create additional revenue that would keep any programs that might be coming up short going and even be able to add new ones requested by residents. Are there any unmet recreational needs? If yes, what are they and how would you propose paying for them?As of now my interaction with Parks and Recreation has been at the youth level with my children and from my experience there seems to be a wide array of activities and options for all interests. I look foward, however, to listening to all residents and find if they feel where their park district might be lacking and help address those concerns. I do feel as though some of the city's unused or vacant spaces could and should be utilized for recreational purposes that would fill in gaps and bring in a stream of revenue from outside communities. I am anxious to explore those options. If you are a newcomer, what prompted you to run for the park board? If you're an incumbent, list your accomplishments or key initiatives in which you played a leadership role.As a newcomer I view the April election as an opportunity to get more involved in my community at a higher level. I want to offer my time and ideas that will continue the tradition of ensuring the needs of all our residents are being met to the best of the Park District's abilities. After leaving the local insurance agent's office with the birth of our fourth child last June after nearly 18 years of servicing those within my community, I have been looking for a new way to stay involved and I am excited about the prospect of becoming part of the Rolling Meadows Park District Board of Commissioners. What other issues, if any, are important to you as a candidate for this office?Making sure that all those in our community, from our youngest citizens to our oldest citizens and all in between, feel connected, supported and encouraged to grow within the community they live in is of upmost importance to me. Ensuring that they have the activities to involve themselves in, the facilities they enjoy using and parks around our city that all feel comfortable utilizing so much so they feel inspired themselves to give back to this wonderful community will be my sole focus. Please name one current leader who most inspires you.Bernie Sanders. Despite poitical parties he motivates people to feel inspired in their own future and encourages all to get involved in changing it.What is the biggest lesson you learned at home growing up?Our mom taught us to love hard, family is the most important thing in life and stand up for what we believe in.If life gave you one do-over, what would you spend it on?Any do-over might alter the paths I took or the current life I'm living and I would change it for anything. What was your favorite subject in school and how did it help you in later life?Math. Numbers are all around us and there's always a way we need to use what we learned. If you could give your children only one piece of advice, what would it be?I tell them everyday dream big and work hard. With those two things absolutely anything is possible.
