John Stewart School holds fundraiser at the Elburn McDonald's

John Stewart Elementary School held its annual McTeacher's Night at the Elburn McDonald's on Center Avenue on Thursday, March 9. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the local school.

On Thursday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for John Stewart School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

An amazing 29 teachers worked from the school. The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, and clearing tables which were executed with great enthusiasm and huge smiles on all the faces.

A special appearance by Ronald McDonald at 5:30 p.m. was enjoyed by all the families. The Kaneland Knight Mascot was at the McTeacher's night the entire three hours and all the families took pictures and had a blast seeing the Knight. Kaneland Superintendent Todd Leden was also present to support John Stewart and everyone was thrilled to see him. To add some extra fun, second-grade teacher Nicole Dyche offered up a McTeacher's Night photo scavenger hunt for the kids. Kids that took photos at the event and sent them to Dyche by 1 p.m. the next day, received one entry into a class raffle for a very special prize.

A special thank you goes to Jenny Wold, the Parent Teacher Network president, who organized the entire event as well as everyone that worked and attended this exciting event.

The school plans to use the money raised to go into the Parent Teacher Network fund to support the school.
