Two killed, one injured in shooting outside Aurora restaurant

Two men were killed and another was injured early Friday during a shooting outside an Aurora restaurant.

Jermaine P. Taylor, 35, of the 900 block of North Edgelawn Avenue in Aurora, and Alselmo V. Fernandez, 57, of the 500 block of N. View Street in Aurora, were pronounced dead at area hospitals, authorities said.

Both were struck by gunfire about 12:50 a.m. while they were outside the restaurant on the 700 block of South Lincoln Avenue, police said. A 37-year-old Aurora resident also was shot, but his wound is not considered life-threatening.

Police said they are searching for two men in connection with the shooting.

The first suspect is described as a Hispanic who is more than 6 feet tall with a medium to large build. The second is described as a black man who is more than 6 feet tall with a thin build.

Both were wearing dark clothing and were on foot at the time of the shooting.

While the suspects were last seen running away, police haven't ruled out the possibility they were picked up.

Police said the shooting doesn't appear to be a random act. At least one of the victims appears to have been targeted and has had several contacts with police, authorities said.

They said gang motivation cannot be ruled out.
