One man found dead in Lake Forest garage fire

One man was found dead Sunday in the garage of a Lake Forest home where authorities were responding to a fire.

Lake Forest police and fire officials were called at 11:26 a.m. to the scene of a garage fire in the southeast part of the city, according to a news release. Light smoke was coming from the garage when they arrived, officials said, and the fire was put out in about three minutes.

Battalion Chief Mike Gallo said emergency responders found the man, who is not being identified, in the garage after extinguishing the fire. He was pronounced dead at the scene, and the cause of his death is under investigation.

Lake County Coroner Howard Cooper said an autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. Nobody else was injured.

Authorities are also investigating the cause of the fire, which was limited to the garage and caused no structural damage to the home, officials said. The fire caused about $1,000 in damage.
