Kane County Flea Market opens its 50th year

Bright sunshine balanced a cold wind as seasoned and rookie explorers sifted through the treasures at the first Kane County Flea Market of 2017 at the Kane County Fairgrounds in St. Charles Saturday.

The noted flea market celebrates it's 50th anniversary this year.

"This is a good place to look," said Peter Bularz of Roselle, who was searching for antique tools. "I like woodworking tools. It's difficult to find excellent condition tools because they get used," he said after paying $2 for a 50-year-old rusty hand saw with decorative etching in the handle. He said he bought it for the fancy medallion screws that held the blade to the handle.

Other treasure hunters carried picture frames and lamps while some sifted through boxes of old toys.

The flea market is held on the first weekend of each month through December. For more information, go to: www.kanecountyfleamarket.com.
