Giesey, Hughes come up with regal 3-point efforts

Carmel Catholic senior Jennifer Giesey (Class 3A) and Warren junior Jordyn Hughes (Class 4A) advanced to the Final Four in the "Queen of the Hill" Three-Point Showdown at Redbird Arena in Normal on Thursday night.

Giesey made 10 of 15 three-point shots, 1 fewer than Litchfield freshman Carson Jackson and Simeon junior Jasmyn Jackson. Glenbard South sophomore Maggie Bair also advanced to Friday's semifinals, which begin at 12:45 p.m.

Hughes advanced in Class 4A by making 11 of 15 shots from beyond the arc, tying for first place. She will compete at 7 p.m. Friday against Hampshire senior Rachel Dumoulin, Plainfield East junior Olivia Jenkins and Rolling Meadows senior Kelsey Nallon.

Warren junior Camille Cuevas and Stevenson junior Klaire Steffans each made eight 3-pointers but did not advance.

The "Queen of the Hill" will be crowned Saturday night.
