St. Charles man accused of heroin possession, dealing

Kane County sheriff's deputies have arrested a St. Charles man on heroin charges stemming from an investigation into drug dealing.

Johnny Williams, 56, of the 1200 block of Indiana Street, faces charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance-heroin and possession of a controlled substance-prescription pills.

The sheriff's office said deputies and DEA agents were conducting an investigation at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, when detectives saw an apparent drug transaction in a parking lot on the 1500 block of East Main Street.

Deputies approached Williams and searched his vehicle, finding a small amount of powdered heroin, the news release said. A search of Williams' residence led to the discovery of approximately 16 bags of suspected heroin, more than $4,000 in cash and several prescription pills, the news release said. Deputies said Williams was on parole at the time of his arrest.
