Cat's Pajamas to perform at Glenbard South

The Cat's Pajamas Vocal Band, a high energy, professional a cappella group, will perform at Glenbard South High School at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, as part of its 10th annual Music in Schools Tour.

This tour brings student choral clinics, school assemblies and evening shows to communities across the nation to raise money for school music programs.

The group will coach Glenbard South students during the afternoon of March 1, and one of Glenbard South's a cappella groups will perform as a warmup band for the Cat's Pajamas Vocal Band at the evening concert at the high school, 22W750 Butterfield Road, Glen Ellyn.

The band's goal is to inspire students, generate increased excitement and passion for music, and encourage all youth and teens to get involved in the arts.

The group teaches and mentors students during the school day, focusing on singing techniques, as well as sharing its personal journeys and testimonies about how members have turned their love for music into a professional career.

In the evening, The Cat's Pajamas Vocal Band will perform for the community and will donate a portion of the show's profits directly to Glenbard South's choral program.

The Cat's Pajamas, which recently received national acclaim on NBC's hit show "The Sing-Off: Season Three," perform pop classics from the '50s, '60s, and '70s. The group's repertoire includes songs from The Temptations, Queen, Grand Funk Railroad and Jackson Five.

Songs from contemporary artists such as Maroon 5, Pitbull, Ed Sheeran, and Bruno Mars also are featured in the show, all performed in The Cat's innovative and funk-infused a cappella style.

Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door or may be reserved by calling (630) 942-6612.
