Geneva man pleads guilty to 2 burglaries, gets 10 years

A Geneva man plead guilty to two burglaries, including one that involved a stabbing, in exchange for a 10-year prison sentence this week, Kane County officials said.

Ronald D. Anderson, 44, of the 300 block of Brittany Court, pleaded guilty Wednesday to residential burglary and burglary in exchange for the 10-year sentence, the Kane County State's Attorney's Office said in a news release.

Prosecutors said Anderson took electrical wire from trucks belonging to an electrical contractor Oct. 2, 2015. Contractors told police they saw him rummaging through their trucks and saw the wire from their vehicles in his truck. He was arrested and charged with burglary. He posted $1,500 bond and was released.

While on bond, Anderson wore a mask and entered the garage of a home in the 300 block of Cape Way in Geneva on March 18, prosecutors said. The resident, who heard noises in the garage and went to investigate, saw Anderson stealing tools, prosecutors said. He dropped the tools and attempted to flee.

The resident chased him and tackled him in the driveway. Anderson then stabbed the resident multiple times, and a dog Anderson brought with bit the resident on the leg, prosecutors said. Anderson fled, leaving his dog behind, prosecutors said.

He's eligible for 341 days served in Kane County jail.
