Hanover Park man gets 12 years for stealing snowblower while on probation

A Hanover Park man who was on probation for a 2015 burglary when he was accused last September of taking items from a Hanover Park garage pleaded guilty to the most recent charges, court records show.

Jose Rojas-Alcocer, 22, was sentenced to 12 years in prison in exchange for pleading guilty to the felony. He received credit for 163 days in custody. He had been held without bail because of his probation violation.

Prosecutors say he entered a garage on the 7800 block of Kensington in Hanover Park without permission from the owner, who said he later noticed a snowblower missing. According to prosecutors Rojas-Alcocer left behind a jacket with information that led investigators to his residence.

Rojas-Alcocer was also ordered to pay $654 in fines, according to court records.
