District 214 board member named a top attorney

Longtime High School District 214 Board of Education member Miriam (Mimi) Cooper has been named to the 2017 Illinois Super Lawyers list, recognizing her as one of the most exceptional attorneys in the state.

This is the fifth time Cooper has been selected to the Illinois Super Lawyers list, which recognizes no more than five percent of Illinois lawyers each year.

Cooper was a teacher before becoming an attorney in 1987. She is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association, and currently serves as the treasurer of the Northwest Suburban Bar Association, a member of its matrimonial law committee, women's bar co-chair of its awards committee and former co-chair of its real estate law committee.

Her firm, The Law Office of Miriam Cooper, serves clients with a team-based approach in family law and real estate matters.

For the past 27 years, Cooper has served as a school board member of High School District 214. She has served for many years as the chairman of Law Day, pairing her law career with her interest in education.

Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement.
