Route 66 gears up for 20th NHRA Nationals celebration

Route 66 Raceway will celebrate the 20th NHRA Route 66 Nationals by bringing back past champions and paying tribute to some of the biggest moments at the iconic dragstrip in Joliet.

The Route 66 Nationals will take place July 6-9, and track officials promise that some of biggest names in drag racing history will be there as well as today's top drivers.

"On the heels of last year's celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Funny Car, we are excited to pay tribute to the rich history of racing at Route 66 Raceway," said Scott Paddock, track president.

Fans will be able to visit NHRA's popular Nitro Alley and Manufacturers Midway, where sponsors and race vendors create a carnival atmosphere, with interactive displays, simulated competitions, merchandise, food and fun for the entire family.

General-admission tickets or reserved seats are available at 888-629-RACE (7223) or 815-722-5500. Tickets also are available online at www.route66raceway.com.
