Conant's co-ed cheer squad makes it downstate

The competitive cheer sectional hosted by Conant on Saturday ended up with plenty worth cheering about.

The host Cougars were among the teams to win one of the divisions, meaning they'll compete in next weekend's state championships at U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

Conant was a big winner in the co-ed division, finishing with a score of 90.04. Joining the Cougars in qualifying for more action downstate were York (85.47), Hoffman Estates (82.04), Elk Grove (80.89) and Lake Park (80.53).

In the Large Team 2 division, Rolling Meadows won with a score of 85.83. Also advancing were Prospect (81.82), Carmel Catholic (81.60), Fremd (81.03) and Warren (80.53).

In the Large Team division, the winner was Glenbard North (84.53), followed by Wheaton North (82.23), Schaumburg (79.17), Bartlett (77.43) and Wheaton Warrenville South (72.24).

State qualifiers in Medium Team were Wauconda (79.67), St. Viator (76.57), Elmwood Park (75.47), Montini (75.18) and Riverside-Brookfield (73.94).

• In the Grayslake North competitive dance sectional, Maine South won the 3A-1 division with a score of 93.20. Joining the Knights in advancing downstate were Prospect (91.00), Lake Park (90.53), York (90.20), Downers Grove North (87.30) and Fremd (86.77).
