Aurora police investigating 14 vandalism reports

Aurora police are investigating 14 reports of vandalism that occurred between Dec. 27 and Tuesday on the far east and southeast sides of the city, officials say.

Although most of the damage has been done to car windows with pellet or BB guns, three homes and a business have also been hit, and three mailboxes were damaged with a blunt object, according to an alert posted on Facebook by Aurora police Wednesday afternoon. Most recently, two windows at an office building on the 1200 block of Waterford were damaged around midnight Monday, and the windows of a home on the 2400 block of Sagamore Road were damaged at 8:50 p.m. the same evening.

Almost all the vehicles were parked on the street or in residence parking lots. All but three of the crimes have happened in the DuPage and Will County sections of Aurora late at night or early morning.

Police think the driver of a small, black vehicle, similar to a Honda Civic or CRX, might be involved.

Anyone who has been vandalized is encouraged to call the police immediately and avoid touching the property until given the OK from police.
