Aurora Mayoral Candidates' Forum set for Jan. 12

A mayoral candidates forum will be held from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, at the Dunham Atrium in the Santori Public Library, 101 S. River St., Aurora. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

The forum is presented by Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce, Quad County African American Chamber of Commerce, Aurora Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Fox Valley PAC and Aurora Public Library.

The forum will be moderated by Alicia Schatteman, Ph.D., assistant professor of public administration at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

Questions will be based on the interests of Aurora's businesses and residents. Topics will likely include pension reform, government consolidation, taxes and fees, and other concerns of the populace. Following the forum, attendees will be able to meet and talk with the candidates. The evening will be videotaped and available for viewing online and through various other outlets. Invited candidates are Linda Chapa LaVia, Richard E. Guzman, Richard C. Irvin and Michael B. Saville.
