Readers welcome to join Schaumburg Library's book discussion groups

A variety of book and movie discussion groups will meet in February and March at the Schaumburg Township District Library, with genres to suit many different interests.

There is no fee to participate, and books may be borrowed from the library. Groups meet at the Central Library, 130 S. Roselle Road, Schaumburg, unless otherwise noted.

Dann and Raymond's Movie Club will be from 7:30-9:30 p.m. Thursdays, Feb. 2 and March 2, in the Rasmussen Room of the Central Library. February's theme will be "Our Oscar Picks," while March will feature "Sex in Hollywood-A Love/Hate Story."

Who Filmed this Book? Meets from 6:30-9 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 8 and 22 and March 8 and 22, at the Hanover Park Branch Library, 1266 Irving Park Road. Participants discuss the book at the first meeting and watch the movie at the second. February's selection will be "The Girl on the Train," while March will be "Spotlight." Limited loaner copies are available at the Hanover Park Branch beginning Feb. 1.

Those who enjoy romance fiction may want to participate in Happily Ever After at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 13 in the Rasmussen North Room of the Central Library. The group will discuss "The Bollywood Bride" by Sonali Dev. Limited loaner copies are available at the Fiction Desk.

Beyond the Book takes place at various times and dates, and features popular current titles. Loaner copies are available at the Fiction Desk 30 days prior to each discussion. Beyond the Book selections for February and March will include "Night" by Elie Wiesel, "The Interestings" by Meg Wolitzer, "The Three-Year Swim Club" by Julie Checkoway, "Isaac's Storm" by Erik Larson, "This is Your Life Harriet Chance" by Jonathon Evison, "Oryx and Crake" by Margaret Atwood, "The Light Between Oceans" by M.L. Stedman, and "Boy, Snow, Bird" by Helen Oyeyemi. Details are available in the library's February-March Guide.

Readers of nonfiction are invited to Second Floor Reads, which will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Feb. 22 and March 22, in the Central Adult Classroom. February's selection will be "The Witches: Salem, 1692" by Stacy Schiff. In March, the group will share thoughts on "Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever Who Saved Him" by Luis Carlos Montalvan. Limited loaner copies will be available at the Reference Desk beginning Feb. 1.

The Young(ish) Adult Book Club will meet from 1-2 p.m. Sunday, March 12, at Wally's Coffee House, 55 W. Schaumburg Road. Participants will enjoy a discussion of "Thirteen Reasons Why" by Jay Asher. Limited loaner copies will be available at the Fiction Desk beginning Feb. 1.

Mystery lovers are welcome to join Murder by the Book, which meets at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 30, in the Central Library's Rasmussen North Room. "Aunty Lee's Delights" by Olvidia Yu will be the featured selection. Copies will be available at the Fiction Desk beginning Feb. 28.
