Naperville cops investigating car-ambulance crash

A 22-year veteran of the Aurora Fire Department has been placed on administrative leave pending results of an investigation into a crash between an Aurora ambulance and a car that sent three people to the hospital early Tuesday morning, authorities said.

Police said it appears the paramedic was driving the ambulance west on Aurora Avenue and a 52-year-old Naperville woman was driving her Toyota Camry north on Ogden Avenue in Naperville when the crash occurred at 3:27 a.m.

The woman and both paramedics in the ambulance were taken to Edward Hospital by Naperville paramedics. Both paramedics were treated and released.

The ambulance was returning to Aurora after transporting a patient to Edward, Fire Marshal Javan Cross said in a statement.

Members of the Naperville Police Department's Traffic Unit are investigating.

No charges or citations have been issued at this time, authorities said.

Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has any information regarding it is asked to call police at (630) 305-5379 or email zookd@naperville.il.us.
