A jolly good time was had at the Bartlett Library

Children and adults alike had a jolly time at the Bartlett Library's "Winter Family Sing Along" on Saturday, Dec. 10. Those in attendance were able to sing and follow along to well-known winter-themed songs.

The program was put on by Bartlett Librarians Mary Beth Fuller and Phyllis Sadowski. A total of 47 patrons were present, 23 children and 24 adults.

Some of the more familiar tunes that were sung at the program include "Up on the House Top" and "Frosty the Snowman." Additionally, everyone sang songs called "Seasons Greeting," which was sung to the tune of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas," and "Hat, Jacket, Pants and Boots," which was a winter spin on "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes."

Children were given out sound makers and bells to shake along with the song "Jingle Bells and STOP," which had the children freeze their shaking for a moment before continuing on with the song. They were then given snowflakes to sway along with a song called "Snowflake Snowflake," which was sung to the tune of "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star."

One could argue that the patrons had the most fun with the snowball freeze game, where fake snowballs were passed out and children had a snowball fight while listening to a song. When the song stopped, the children were supposed to freeze for a few seconds before they could continue throwing snowballs. However, some children had a hard time containing themselves and couldn't help but continue to throw snowballs even when the song was paused. Their actions had everyone laughing and having a good time.

To wrap up the singing portion of the program, Fuller and Sadowski sang a song called "Holiday Good Bye," which was sung to the tune of "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."

Patrons were then free to enjoy some hot chocolate as well as holiday cookies.

Also, because the Bartlett Library is celebrating cultures this winter, the children in attendance were each given a lanyard and a button because they were at the program. In order to collect all the buttons, patrons were instructed to look at the newsletter as the selected programs where buttons will be available are marked with globes next to them.
