4 Evansville officers who were suspended won't face charges

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A prosecutor won't charge four Evansville police officers who were suspended following an October arrest.

Vanderburgh County Prosecutor Nicholas Hermann announced Thursday that Officers Nick Henderson, Mark DeCamps and Marcus Craig won't face criminal charges after body camera footage showed them using force against 36-year-old Mark Healy on Oct. 29 after one of the officers who was searching Healy poked his hand on a needle in Healy's pocket.

The Evansville Courier and Press reports (http://bit.ly/2gGZUut ) Sgt. Kyle Kassel, who approved a use-of-force report in the case later found to be inaccurate, also won't face charges.

The Indiana State Police investigated the incident and sent its findings to Hermann.

The four officers have completed suspensions but will remain on paid leave until the Police Merit Commission considers discipline against them.
