District 214 and public library partner to provide innovative learning

The Arlington Heights Memorial Library (AHML) was recently recognized by High School District 214 for its "outstanding support of students and their future" through its involvement in the Career Pathways program.

AHML Teen Services Supervisor Trixie Dantis and Specialty Info Services Manager Shannon Distel (pictured here) have been involved with the Hersey High School Entrepreneur program with teacher Dan Vesper since the program began in 2014. The library has worked with high school interns in various departments including IT, Teen Services and Graphics.

Local businesses and nonprofits partner with the school district's Center for Career Discovery to provide opportunities for innovative learning and workplace experience to ensure, college, career and life readiness. The Career Pathways program has been recognized by the White House and is a model for programs in other states.
