Gerber gets career-high 32 to lead Schaumburg
Senior Mallory Gerber tossed in a career-high 32 points as Schaumburg's girls basketball team posted a 62-46 nonconference triumph over host Wheaton St. Francis on Tuesday night.
Classmate Laura O'Connell added 11 points for the Saxons (2-5).
Gerber had 14 field goals, including a 3-pointer, while O'Connell also had a 3-pointer as Schaumburg raced out to a 22-5 lead after one quarter.
Maine West 80, Maine East 30: Host Maine West improved to 9-1 and 2-0 in the Central Suburban North.
Allison Pearson scored 15 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. The junior guard was also 3-of-3 from 3-point range. Teammate Rachel Kent added 10 points with 7 rebounds while Alisa Fallon added 9 points. Angela Dugalic and Gabriela Alvarado each chipped in 8 points for the Warriors
Acacia Hernandez also had two 3-pointer for west while teammates Liz Sanchez, Destiny Zuniga, Jocelyn Jacob and Fallon each had one.
West resumes CSL North play on Saturday when it visits Vernon Hills.
St. Charles 51, Prospect 47: Prospect trailed 31-19 at half but rallied to make it close in the final two quarters of the nonconference test.
"We had a great defensive second half," said Knights coach Gabrielle Lovin. "Allowing 22 made free throws (22-of-31) will hurt any team. St. Charles East played well."
Sophomore Mandy Withey led Prospect (2-5) with 12 points followed by Eileen Donohue (10) and Emily Frasco (9), who had a 3-pointer.
Leyden 38, Hinsdale South 37: The host Eagles evened their record at 3-3 as junior guard Annissa Lemon scored a career-high 18 points.
