Baxter nets 100 percent for LGBT workplace equality

DEERFIELD - Baxter International has again earned a top score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2017 Corporate Equality Index.

The CEI is a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality in the workplace.

"We are honored to be recognized for our practices, policies and culture that support LGBT equality in the workplace," said Baxter Chairman and Chief Executive Officer José (Joe) Almeida. "We pride ourselves on maintaining a culture that recognizes every individual's unique background and experiences that contribute to a successful organization."

The CEI evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices, including nondiscrimination in the workplace, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, diversity programs and public engagement with the LGBT community.
