District 62 students writing computer code

More than 1,500 students throughout Des Plaines Elementary District 62 will participate in computer science exploration activities as part of Computer Science Education Week that kicks off Monday, officials said.

Students will utilize paper and pencil, laptops, iPads and robotics to explore computer science concepts and write their own lines of code, according to a district news release.

"We are very excited to be joining schools around the nation to engage our students in computer science exploration. We will continue challenging ourselves to create new and innovative learning opportunities beyond this week," said District 62 Chief Technology Officer Jennie Magiera in the release.
