No. 19 Florida women romp past Long Beach State, 83-53

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) - Ronni Williams scored 18 points and No. 19 Florida kicked its game into high-gear in the second quarter of an 83-53 rout of Long Beach State in a first-round game at the Arizona State Classic tournament Saturday.

Florida plays host Arizona State, a 71-42 winner over Boston U Saturday, in the championship game Sunday. Long Beach State plays BU.

Trailing by one after one quarter, Williams hit a jumper to give the Gators (6-1) the lead for good, 19-17 midway through the second, sparking a 23-9 run that gave Florida a 38-26 halftime lead.

Williams entered the game with 994 career points in her 99th contest as a Gator.

Haley Lorenzen added 12 points and Delicia Washington and Tyshara Fleming each contributed 11 as Florida shot 54.4 percent (37 of 68) from the field.

Jessica Gertz scored 12 points off the bench as Long Beach (3-4) lost its fourth straight.
