BMO Harris Bank, Chicago Blackhawks honor Youth Hockey Player of the Month
In partnership with the Chicago Blackhawks, BMO Harris Bank announced today the recognition of Patrick McGowan as the BMO Harris Bank Youth Hockey Player of the Month and Christian Esposito and Becky Malone as the Coach and Volunteer of the Month.
Lucino Sotelo, chief marketing officer for BMO Harris Bank, presented the awards to McGowan, Esposito and Malone during the on-ice ceremony at the Nov. 29 Blackhawks game.
For the past nine seasons, BMO Harris Bank and the Chicago Blackhawks have teamed up to honor youth hockey coaches and players each month for their outstanding achievements both on the ice and in their communities.
This is the fourth year BMO Harris Bank and the Chicago Blackhawks are recognizing a volunteer of the month, awarded for their community efforts and giving back to their community.
All candidates are nominated by teammates, coaches, friends or family members through the Blackhawks' website and are judged by an amateur hockey committee.
Player of the month Patrick McGowan is a freshman at Belvidere High School. The 15-year-old freshman student founded the Belvidere Fury High school hockey team in Poplar Grove this fall. He also plays goalie and forward for the Leafs 15U Central States hockey team. In the community, he volunteers at the Belvidere Community Food Pantry and was a student coach for the Leafs squirt hockey team.
Coach of the month Christian Esposito lives in St. Charles and coaches the Fox Valley Hurricanes. In college, he started the St. Mary University of Minnesota division II Men's Hockey team in the ACHA and served as captain. He began coaching as a way to give back to the sport he loves.
Becky Malone is a volunteer for the St. Jude Knights in Chicago, where she acts as the organization's marketing and fundraising coordinator. As a mother to two hockey sons, she began volunteering to help the program for her sons and give back to the hockey community through community event planning.
