Arlington Heights man accused of trying to stab woman

Police say an Arlington Heights man repeatedly struck a woman with a dull knife while she was driving with two children in the vehicle.

Dinko Kralchev, 33, of the 600 block of East Falcon Drive, was arrested and charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery and child endangerment.

Kralchev was driving with a female family member and two children about 6 p.m. Nov. 15 when authorities say he pulled over and began attacking the woman, Arlington Heights Police Sgt. Thomas Henderson said.

The woman eventually re-entered the vehicle and began driving east on Arlington Heights Road. The man is accused of continuing to attack her and repeatedly trying to stab her with a dull knife, causing her to momentarily lose control of the vehicle.

Two children, 7 and 10 years old, were in the back seat, authorities said.

"He kept stabbing her in various parts of her body, threatening to kill her," Henderson said.

Police began their investigation after the woman came in to the Arlington Heights police station to make a report Nov. 15. Krelchov was arrested later that evening and taken to the Cook County jail, Henderson said.
