Bodies of woman and dog found by suburban Chicago lake

FOX LAKE, Ill. (AP) - Authorities in suburban Chicago are investigating after the bodies of a woman and her dog were found near the shoreline of a lake.

Officers were called Saturday afternoon to Nippersink Lake on the report of a dead dog in the water. Officers then found the woman's body nearby.

Fox Lake police identified the woman Sunday as 57-year-old Mary T. Anton of Fox Lake. She was reported missing Friday evening by her son.

Police say there were no obvious signs of trauma to Anton or the dog. An initial investigation shows no evidence of foul play.

The Lake County coroner's office says an autopsy is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
