Larson, Brust take the lead in Grayslake Central's first win

Amanda Larson and Lindsay Brust each scored 13 points, and Grayslake Central's girls basketball team beat Rich East 53-45 Saturday at Buffalo Grove to capture its first win of the season.

Brust also had 8 rebounds and 5 steals. Freshman Kate Bullman came off the bench to add 9 points, 3 steals and 3 blocks for the Rams (1-3), who led 13-11 after one quarter, 28-21 at halftime and 38-33 after three.

Grayslake Central wraps up the Buffalo Grove tournament with a 10 a.m. tipoff Saturday against Barrington.

Stevenson 39, St. Charles East 36: At Schaumburg, Ashley Richardson led all scorers with 22 points, and the Patriots' win earned them second place in the tournament.

Madison Wicklund added 7 points for Stevenson, whose only losses were to Evanston by 3 points and Wheaton Warrenville South by 1 point. Richardson and Klaire Steffens were named to the all-tournament team.
