Hanover Park needs applicants for youth award

The Village of Hanover Park is seeking candidates for the 2016-17 Michael H. Coleman Youth of the Year Award.

This award reinforces the outstanding qualities of young people and publicly acknowledges their efforts. This honor goes a high school senior and is accompanied by a $1,000 scholarship awarded to the winner. Three $500 scholarships are awarded to the runner ups. The winner will be announced at a village awards reception in January.

Applicants must live in the village; write a one-page essay sharing how they have been involved in improving themselves and the village and the merits they wish to be considered by the review team. They must also include a letter of recommendation from a teacher, coach, or employer, etc. Letters may not be submitted by family members.
