CME Group's CEO to retire at end of year

Associated Press

CHICAGO - CME Group says Chief Executive Officer Phupinder Gill plans to retire from the company that operates futures exchanges at the end of the year.

Chicago-based CME announced Thursday that at the request of the company's board Terry Duffy has assumed the expanded role of chairman and CEO. Bryan Durkin, who is currently chief commercial officer, has been named president of CME.

Gill, a 28-year veteran of CME, was named CEO in 2012. During the next two months, Gill will work with Duffy, Durkin and the CME management team on the transition. In a statement, Duffy says the company's "strategy remains unchanged" amid a strong growth strategy.
