Geneva man dies after vehicle veers off road, police say

A Geneva man died Wednesday after the truck he was driving veered off the road and hit a parked semi in St. Charles, police say.

Alcohol may have been a factor, police say, after they were called just after 2 p.m. to the 37000 block of Stern Avenue for a crash that happened in a parking lot of a business.

A 2002 Toyota Tundra traveling eastbound on Stern Avenue crossed over the westbound lane and struck the front passenger-side of a 2017 Freightliner semi that was backed into a loading dock of the business, police said.

The Toyota's driver, Thomas Chlebowski, 67, was taken to Delnor Hospital and then airlifted to Advocate Good Samaritan, where he died as a result of his injuries, police said.

The semi's driver was not injured in the crash. No citations have been issued.
