Recognition for Harper soccer, volleyball players

A total of eight players from the Harper College men's soccer and women's volleyball teams have earned postseason awards.

Tafara Musiwa and Ricky Choi (Hoffman Estates) earned first team all-conference honors in men's soccer, and Angel Sarti (Hoffman Estates) captured second-team honors.

In 18 games this season, Musiwa scored 7 goals and had 5 assists for 19 points. Choi, who finished in a tie for eighth place nationally with 20 goals, led the Hawks in that category. In 18 games, he also had 4 assists. Sarti finished with 13 points (5 goals, 3 assists).

In volleyball, Ellie Buzlaff secured first team all-region honors.

Four of her teamates - Kayla Mayer, Katlynn Novy, Katelyn Sommers and Sarah Udoni - each were named to the second team.

Haper's Bob Vilsoet was named the Division III, Region IV coach of the year.

The trio of Burzlaff, Sommers and Mayer were also named to the Region IV all-tournament team.

The Hawks compete in the NJCAA Division III volleyball tournament Friday.
