Fremont Elementary students honor local veterans

Local veterans and their families enjoyed a Veterans Day celebration Wednesday at Fremont Elementary School in Mundelein.

The school's 700 kindergarten, first grade, second grade and MAP students participated in two programs that included music, songs, stories and videos.

Half the student body participated in a morning program and the other half in the afternoon.

Around 100 guests attended the morning program.

It's the ninth year the school has held the event, which included special thank-you handshakes from the students and an invitation to visit a veterans display in a case near the office.
