Scheflow re-elected to Kane County Board 22

Voters re-elected Republican Doug Scheflow on Tuesday night to represent Kane County Board's District 22, according to unofficial results.

Scheflow had 4,621 votes, or 49.3 of the vote, while his opponent, Democrat newcomer Randy Hopp, had 3,907 votes, or 41.7 percent, with all 10 precincts reporting in Kane County.

Scheflow, 59, an attorney, supported a project to build Longmeadow Parkway with a four-lane toll bridge over the Fox River, along with the idea of building a cross-country course at Settler's Hill landfill near Geneva.

He also supported raising the county's property tax levy to factor in new construction, and said that staffing increases for some county departments are OK if they don't result in higher taxes for residents.
