Thomas wins in Kane County District 4

Democrat Angela Clay Thomas won election Tuesday to the Kane County Board District 4 seat.

The Aurora resident had 4,106 votes to Republican John Kopp's 3,639, according to unofficial returns.

Thomas beat the incumbent representative in the primary. No Republicans ran in the primary, and Kopp was slated in May.

Kopp supported Chairman Chris Lauzen's calls for continuing the freeze on the county's property-tax levy.

Thomas said she would increase county-related communications to the district's residents, if she was elected. She said the county's property-tax levy freeze was a good thing, but needed to be lifted now to avoid deficit spending.
