Blass wins tight DuPage County Board race

Republican newcomer Richard Blass has won a 2-year seat on the DuPage County Board. The attorney from Elmhurst bested Democratic incumbent Elizabeth "Liz" Chaplin in District 2.

With all 168 precincts reporting, unofficial results from Tuesday's election showed Blass, an attorney from Elmhurst, ahead with 50.2 percent of the votes. He had 35,271 votes to Chaplin's 34,942.

Blass previously served as a trustee on both the Berkeley village and library boards. He said he would bring independent ideas to DuPage's GOP-dominated county board.

District 2 covers all or parts of Lisle, Lombard, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Villa Park, Naperville, Elmhurst, Hinsdale, Clarendon Hills, Downers Grove, Westmont and Woodridge.
