Kachiroubas re-elected DuPage circuit court clerk

Elmhurst Republican Chris Kachiroubas won a fourth term as DuPage County circuit court clerk Tuesday.

With 862 of 869 precincts reporting, Kachiroubas garnered 218,908 votes or about 55.9 percent, unofficial results show. His Democratic opponent, Christopher English, had 172,725 votes, or 44.1 percent.

Kachiroubas, 60, has proposed several initiatives he wants to launch with four more years as clerk.

One program would offer electronic check-in at the county's field traffic courts to improve congestion and wait times.

"It will move the process much quicker, much smoother," said Kachiroubas, who was first elected in 2004.

He also noted the office became the first in the state to roll out electronic filing of appeals.

English, of Darien, sought the office because he said he wanted to give DuPage voters a choice and "didn't like the idea of people running unopposed." The 65-year-old retired architect said he had the "technical background" to step into the position.
