Puchalski, Tornatore returning to DuPage County Board

Voters on Tuesday returned two Republicans to District 1 seats on the DuPage County Board.

In the race for the 4-year seat, Addison attorney Donald Puchalski easily defeated his challenger, Roland "Rolly" Waller, a Bensenville Democrat who railed against noise from O'Hare International Airport during his second attempt to win a seat on the county board.

With all 133 precincts reporting, Puchalski had nearly 56 percent of the vote while Waller had about 44 percent, unofficial results show.

In the contest for the 2-year seat, Roselle attorney Sam Tornatore beat Richard Accomando, an Addison Democrat and Medicare consultant who has never held elected office.

With all precincts reporting, Tornatore garnered 56 percent of the vote to Accomando's 44 percent, according to unofficial results.

District 1 includes all or parts of Addison, Bensenville, Elmhurst, Itasca, Lombard, Roselle, Villa Park and Wood Dale.

Republican incumbent Sam Tornatore won a 2-year term on the DuPage County Board in District 1.
