Saint Viator Invites Prospective Students to Open House

Area students in grades 5 through 8 and their families are invited to learn more about Saint Viator High School at the annual Open House on Sunday Nov. 13, and Monday, Nov. 14. The two-time U.S. Department of Education Blue Ribbon School, and recent Apple Distinguished School recipient, will welcome prospective families for tours, presentations and one-on-one discussions at the upcoming event.

"For more than 50 years, Saint Viator High School has been recognized for our rigorous college preparatory curriculum," said Saint Viator President Brian Liedlich. "We have a great story to tell about our students' academic achievement, but we also want prospective families to experience our nurturing, faith-based community and the full range of activities that produce well-rounded young adults primed for a successful future."

"The open house is an opportunity for students and their families to walk the halls, see our fabulous new renovations, and get a better feel for what our school has to offer," said Director of Recruitment Jason Kuffel "At each event we'll have our administration, faculty, Board of Trustee members, and alumni on hand to share their perspectives and answer the detailed questions that prospective students and parents may have."

Kuffel notes that 100% of the most recent graduating class was accepted into college and received over $26 million in scholarship offers. With an average ACT score 6 points higher than the state average, Saint Viator students were well equipped for the rigors of college.

"Many parents of junior high students are already looking ahead to college, anticipating the potential costs involved," said Liedlich. "Our education is focused on making sure our students are ready academically, and thankfully, in many cases, equipped with scholarship offers that allow them to get through college and be prepared to start their careers with little to no debt. That is an important blessing to provide our graduates beginning their adult lives."

Kuffel called out the new reality that the current generation is very much concerned about the world around them, placing high value on social awareness and service.

"Our community thrives on a willingness to serve. Visitors to the open house will learn a great deal about the world-view of the Viatorian community and how our students are empowered to contribute in many ways, beginning with their freshman year here at Saint Viator."

The Sunday session will run from 1 to 3 p.m., with the Monday evening event taking place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the school, 1213 E. Oakton, in Arlington Heights. All are welcome, but getting started can be expedited by pre-registering at www.saintviator.com/admissions.
