Cannot trust Dist. 15 board with $130 million
Some months ago, in the process of approving a new contract for the teachers of District 15, the administration and the board acted with both arrogance toward and disrespect for the citizens of the district.
They approved a 10-year contract which most subject matter experts viewed as fiscally irresponsible, their math as it related to projected savings on early retirement was "shell game" merely shifting the burden to the state, it was unclear whether the board ever actually approved the contract, (Daily Herald 5/29/16), and they ignored requests from the public, including the press, for details of the agreement even after specific FOIA requests were made.
Their collective behavior in this entire matter could best be described as irresponsible and ethically challenged.
Now this same board and same administration want us to accept their proposal and their rationale for a $130 million bond issue. Further, they want us to believe they have the capacity to administer these funds in a prudent and equitable, and open manner.
Based on their handling of the contract issue, there is little evidence they can address either of the above issues responsibly. As a taxpayer of the district, I cannot support the district tax referendum because of the egregious past performance of the leadership of the district.
